Almost every student who walks into our Borivali campus asking about nursing arrives with the same question: GNM or B.Sc Nursing? Both are genuine nursing pathways, and neither is a lesser option. They simply answer different goals.
Start with duration
GNM (General Nursing & Midwifery) runs for 3.5 years and includes an internship phase. B.Sc Nursing is a four-year degree. If starting structured bedside practice sooner matters to you, that half-year difference plus the diploma structure of GNM is worth weighing carefully.
Then look at academic depth
B.Sc Nursing carries more academic weight across nursing science, anatomy, physiology and microbiology. Students who see themselves moving toward senior clinical roles, speciality nursing or further study usually find the degree route fits their plan better.
Ask what the day-to-day work looks like
GNM is strongly oriented toward general nursing and midwifery practice. If your picture of nursing is hands-on ward and patient care, that focus is a strength, not a compromise.
Practical advice before you decide
Before choosing, do these three things:
- Visit the campus and watch a practical session — the teaching style tells you more than a brochure.
- Ask what the internship or clinical exposure phase actually involves.
- Speak to a counsellor about your own marks, timeline and long-term goal rather than the general case.
